In Sossusvlei the highest sand dune in the world can be found that are up to 380meters high, situated in the Namib- Naukluft National Park which is the largest conservation area in Africa and the fourth largest in the world, this is surely one of the most spectacular sights in Namibia. The Sossusvlei area is about 32.000 sq km big, extending between rivers Koichab and Kuiseb. This area is characterized by high sand dunes of vivid pink-to-orange colour, a consequence of a high percentage of iron in the sand and consequent oxidation processes. The oldest dunes are those of a more intense reddish colour and the best time to view is at sunrise and sunset as the colours are strong and constantly changing. This is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Namibia with its endless natural beauty. The beauty of this magnificent sight never stop as every dune is enriched with colour as the sun gives life to it, creating a new picture every minute as blazing orange and pink fill the horizon bringing new hope for the day.
